A widespread outage at Cloudflare, an internet infrastructure provider, has disrupted parts of the internet, including sites like ChatGPT and social media platform X.
Cloudflare said on its status page Tuesday that it had identified an issue impacting multiple customers and was implementing a fix.
“We made changes that allowed Cloudflare Access and WARP to recover. The error level for Access and WARP users has returned to pre-incident levels. We have re-enabled WARP access in London,” the company wrote on its status page. “We continue to work to restore other services.”
Cloudflare told Reuters in an email that it saw a spike in “unusual traffic” before the widespread errors on its network.

“We are all hands on deck to ensure all traffic is handled flawlessly,” the company said.
Other sites experiencing issues include Coinbase, Moody’s and NJ Transit.

Reports of Cloudflare issues peaked at nearly 5,000, although such reports appeared to have dwindled to around 600 by 8 a.m. ET, according to Downdetector, an outage tracking tool.

The outage is the latest massive disruption to internet services in the past month.

In October, Microsoft’s Azure cloud portal experienced an outage that affected access to Office 365, Minecraft, and other services. A massive outage at Amazon that same month resulted in disruptions to thousands of websites and some of the most popular apps, such as Snapchat and Reddit. Both companies resolved the problems at the time.
