In the aftermath of the murder of Charlie Kirk, America is looking for answers. But on Wikipedia a different kind of search is underway. Editors on the site push a left-wing story about Kirk, one that is subtle but to that precise reason effective.
The attack on Kirk starts in the very first sense of the Wikipedia article, which identifies him as ‘right-wing’. That in itself may seem indisputable, but a look at Wikipedia articles about similar figures from the left does not reveal such a politicized framing.
For example the article about former Obama adviser David Plouffe Identifies him as a “American political and business strategist” and MSNBC -Gastheer and political analyst Al Sharpton is described as “American civil rights and activist of social justice”. Although the articles describe their partisan activities, they are not mentioned at all liberal or left. Plouffe was even “invited to connect” acronym “, a liberal non -profit organization”. But he is not called ‘liberal’.
The attack continues further down in the Kirk article’s lead paragraphs, where editors said Kirk was controversial due to his “opposition to gun control, abortion, and LGBTQ rights; his criticism of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Martin Luther King Jr.; and his promotion of Christian nationalism, COVID-19 MIS INFORMATION, The Great Replacement Conspiracy Theory, and False Claims of Electoral Fraud in 2020. “

The framing ensures that everyone who is looking for Kirk is met after his murder of a story that was designed to discredit him.

Even more critically, the sage feeds the Kennanpaneel of Google and search results and top AI platforms more disproportionately. I asked Chatgpt: “Has Charlie Kirk promoted conspiracy theories?” It replied: “Yes, Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, actively promoted various conspiracy theories during his career.” To support this, Chatgpt quotes five “conspiracy theories” spread throughout Kirk, three have taken directly from the list above. In four of the five cases, Chatgpt quotes only one source: Wikipedia.
One way in which Wikipedia editors organize an attack is due to crushing allegations about articles. The statement made in the head “Charlie Kirk“Article that he was in favor of” Christian nationalism “, links to one Separate article This claims that this view is “noted overlap with Christian fundamentalism, [W]Hite supremation, Christian supremacy, the seven mountain mandate movement and dominionism. ”
In a newly made article, “Murder of Charlie Kirk“Editors wrote that Kirk” organized his skills in social media and the campus to become a very influential figure in the ‘hard-right movement’, ‘with reference to an article in the New York Times.

In a dedicated section in the main article of Kirk, “Promotion of lies and conspiracy theories,” Wikipedia -Editors initially accused Kirk of promoting “the anti -Semitic cultural Marxism -entry theory”. Kirk was generally known as one of the most influential supporters of American Jews in the country.
The article has since been amended to say that Kirk “promoted cultural Marxism -mumwing theory and described universities as” islands of totalitarianism. “” One of the articles that it connects in quote is an article in 2019 in the Journal of Social Justice “Culturis” “Culturalism” as a Bangtian “” ” ‘ consemition theory.

Hours after his murder, in the “weapon control” section of the Talk page of the article, where the debate of editors proposed operations, an editor advised “and noticed” Kirk’s relevance as an opposition to weapon control as a statistics of weapon management. “Another editor argued that a speech of 2023 from Kirk – where he noticed the unfortunate consequence of arms starfalls while expressing his support for the rights of the second amendment -” would show his willingness to accept this outcome “of his own murder. The quote from that speech remains in the Kirk article itself.
An analysis of the news sources that are used as references in the Charlie Kirk article, shows that a majority of sources are left behind or leaning left, as categorized by Allssides. These include several quotes from the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, The Guardian and CNN.
“I asked Chatgpt:” Has Charlie Kirk promoted conspiracy theories? ” It replied: “Yes – there is credible evidence that Charlie Kirk promoted or repeated the conspiracy theories and wrong information on different topics.” “

This bias did not go unnoticed in Washington. In August the house oversight committee opened a formal Research into the Wikimedia FoundationWho owns and operates the site, demanding documents and data to determine whether foreign or ideological manipulation contains content on the most influential source of online information in the world. Of course the Wikimedia Foundation did not respond to my research.

In essence, Wikipedia is a packaging for the regular media. The notorious “reliable sources” list of news broadcasts that can be used as references and sources that Wikipedia editors regard as “reliable” as green and which they as “unreliable” as red. The green sites read as a semi-official list of mainstream media: New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, NBC News, CBS News, ABC News, Associated Press. It marks conservative points of sale disproportionately and unreliable, while it gives a neutral assessment to the Chinese propaganda -outlet China Daily.
It is clear that something has to change on Wikipedia. But if the regular media on which the site trusts is an indication, that will probably not happen quickly. In the meantime, the site that AI and Powers Google feeds disproportionately will remain a battlefield where extremely left ideology is washed in the mainstream almost uncontrolled.
