I will admit: Democrats are in defense when it comes to crime. The acquisitions of President Donald Trump of Washington, DC and Los Angeles do not make America safer, but they are effective stunts – designed to put Democrats on the back and to distract from his administration that drives our country to economic downfall.
Republican law and order messages are nothing new – Google “Richard Nixon.” But in the aftermath of the entire debacle “Defund the Police”, Democrats are still working on clear, consistent answers that trust it. The observed views of Democrats about rights and order are some of the clear disconnection that we have with workers’ voters of all breeds.
That must change – and fast. The stupidity of the White House will only intensify on the way to the Midterms 2026. We must be ready not only to combat punch, but to be offense when we are talking about crime. Democrats cannot get entangled in the process of stupid slogans.

But to win elections, Democrats have to do more than just rule effectively – we must aggressively communicate the steps we take to make American communities actually safer. That means speaking in a normal, direct language that people really use, don’t sound like we’re auditioning for the NPR Pledge Week.
Democrats must be the attack. The leaders of our party cannot be afraid to call the Republican recklessness when it endangers lives. Take a look at the Republican Governor of Louisiana, who this month used National Guard troops to not respond to a real emergency situation, but to score political points with Trump. Washington bureaucrats may not know, but we are in the middle of the hurricane season and our governor wants the troops of Louisiana to be used as props for photo-stops. Seems crazy.

The Democratic Party must put more candidates in the fold who can talk about the very real concerns of families about crime. Leaders such as Abigail Spanberger and Rep. They know from first -hand that safety and security are not abstract points, they are a daily concern for American families.

That kind of authenticity cuts through the BS in Lazie Republican attack advertisements and PR stunts. It connects with voters who want to see that leaders are popping up and doing something to actually prevent crime in their communities.
