Speaker Mike Johnson seems to be struggling with the reality that his speakership is about to become a footnote in history.
On CNN, Johnson claimed that our eyes are wrong. The Tax Sales Act is really hugely popular:
There has been a total attack and effort from Democrats and the regular media to honestly inform people wrong about what is in the bill. When they take the same polls from the individual provisions of that gigantic piece of legislation, they are extremely popular.
So what happened in the district period of August is that Republicans, Senate and Huis Republicans, throughout the country, are to go to all their districts and exactly the extraordinary things that are explained in this bill. It is focused and written for lower and middle class earners. They will feel the effects of that. We restored American energy -dominance, peace through strength, the most important tax cuts in American history. People will feel that before they vote in those interim elections, and I am very bullish about the outcome because they will see the results.
CNN seemed prepared for Johnson’s answer because they placed a Fox News poll on the screen that showed almost every problem, but two in the law were not popular with the American people.
Johnson replied that the Fox News poll was also wrong:
I’m not – look, I don’t buy that. Polls can, you know, be manipulated. We have always seen a series of polls that many of these facilities, in fact that you said it is popular.
We want to reduce fraud and waste with the government, fraud and waste and abuse in the government. We want to reduce the size and scope of the government. These things, people nod in accordance and I have been in the town halls throughout the country during this break with 12 states in the past week, and people stand and applaud for what we have done.
So look, I tell you, the facts will speak for themselves, the results and the things that people experience, and that is why we are enthusiastic about the midterms that are coming. We’re going to win this.
Mike Johnson seems to be released and completely separated from reality. He does not want to face the fact that the only important achievement that the Republican majority of the house has, is so unpopular that it will probably cost the Republicans the majority, and many of the members of his conference their jobs.
The American people have experienced what Johnson and Trump tried to sell them, and they want nothing to do with it.
As for Johnson’s claims about town halls. That was a lie. Republicans have avoided town halls because the speaker told his members not to do them.
Mike Johnson cannot sell the law on his own merits, so he has resorted to lies that are so delusions that they have Johnson’s listener asking the listener with reality.
Things are bad for Mike Johnson and Huis Republicans, and they are getting worse.
