The best American diplomat in Denmark was called by the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen on intelligence reports that Americans had carried out secret influence operations in Greenland.
Danish public broadcaster Dr. reported that at least three people with ties with the Trump government carried out the operations. The broadcaster did not mention the aforementioned safety and government sources.

“Every attempt to interfere with the internal affairs of the Kingdom will of course be unacceptable. In that light, I have asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to call up the American Chargé D ‘affair for a meeting at the ministry.”
Rasmussen also emphasized that the ties between Denmark and Greenland are “close” and “based on mutual trust.”

Earlier in his second term, President Donald Trump repeatedly spoke about the search for American jurisdiction about Greenland, which is part of the Danish Kingdom. In response to Trump’s comments, both Denmark and Greenland said that the island was not for sale.
The US currently does not have an ambassador in Denmark, which means that the American diplomat Mark Stroh serves as Chargé d’Affaires. Stroh was called up for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

One of the people who are suspected in the alleged influence operation is said to compile a list of US-friendly Groenlanders, collected Trump opponents’ names and has allegedly encouraged the locals to emphasize things that the Danish government portraits negatively in American media, according to The corresponding press. Moreover, two others are suspected of creating relationships with politicians, companies and the locals.
DR called eight sources that believe that the goal was to weaken the ties between Denmark and Greenland, the Associated Press reported. The Danish Security and Intelligence Service would have told the outlet valve that it is of the opinion that “especially in the current situation, Greenland is a target for influence campaigns of different types.”
In May the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said “You can’t stand an ally” in response to reports that the US collected information on Greenland.
