Mail-in voting was once a two-part issue in Pennsylvania. When the legislative power voted to expand the post-voices in 2018, this did in a dual way. As soon as Donald Trump had voted mail-in, an enemy, the Republicans of Pennsylvania try to get away since.
One of the oddities of the Pennsylvania-mail-in voting system is that the completed mood is housed in an inner envelope, and the voter must close, sign and date an outer envelope.
For years, the question of whether or not wrong ballot papers should be counted was an issue that has been brought in the courts.
Thousands of ballot papers were thrown away in 2024 because of crimes, and the issue is disproportionately more than Republicans.
A Court of Appeal has ruled that the wrong ballot papers cannot be thrown away in a new judgment on Tuesday.
“Because of the date requirement of the Commonwealth, an unintended typographic error or a reversed number or even a lost pen on the date field will remove the ballot that is included in the return envelope. And the voter may never be wiser,” wrote judge D. Brooks Smith, a George W. Bush -appointed, for an appointment.
The decision of Brooks was accompanied by Biden Arianna Freeman and Obama appointed Patty Schwartz. They concluded that the requirement to throw away the wrong or undated post-in stamps, has violated the protection of the first and fourteenth amendments against the voting rights by creating unacceptable costs-with virtually no benefits for the state. They even concluded that the date requirement was actually cumbersome for government officials to also implement, with virtually no benefits in preventing fraud.
Voters who make a mistake when dating their ballot paper must be able to correct their ballot.
This prevailing flies in the light of what Donald Trump stated when he said he wanted to ban post-voices.
The pronunciation is a big victory for Democrats in the Swing State of Pennsylvania. It is also an important victory for democracy, because voters should not be detached due to a foolish and meaningless dating requirement on a mood.
At a time when it seems as if democracy is being attacked from all sides, victories are still happening and victories such as those in Pennsylvania will ultimately serve as building blocks to turn the current anti -democratic tide.
