On Monday, Google released its quarterly threat analysis group (TAG) Bulletin, which showed that YouTube has removed around 34,000 channels since the beginning of 2025 related to the propaganda campaigns of Chinese, Russian or other foreign opponents.
In the last three months, a significant decline has fallen compared to the first three months of the year. According to Google’s Q2 Tag Bulletin, slightly less than 11,000 YouTube channels were removed between April, May and June.
That is a decrease of approximately 23,000 that were removed between January, February and March.

YouTube has increasingly become an important news source for many Americans. Oxford’s Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ) indicated in his 14th annual Digital News Report Last month released that, for the first time, social media television as the top on which people consume their news.

According to the report, which investigated nearly 100,000 people in 48 countries, 54% said they had used as news source of news and video network works last week.

The preference of American users for social media above television news was 55%in 2021, but today it is 72%, according to the report.
If you look at YouTube and Americans specifically, its prevalence surpasses a source of news Facebook, X, Instagram and Tiktok, the report also indicates.

In some cases the campaigns were linked to Russia, but shared content in different languages, such as Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian, French, English and Farsi.
In the meantime, youtube, although less usual, also ended channels linked to influence on campaigns from countries such as Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Ghana and Israel.
