Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that the murder of Charlie Kirk was a sign of a “deep gorge” in American society, while offering his condolences to the family of the late conservative activist.
Putin spoke in the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi on a forum of Russian experts, according to Reuters, Putin spoke.
“This is a disgusting atrocity, especially because it was broadcast live. We saw it all. It was really terrible,” Putin said. “First and foremost I extend my condolences to the family of Mr. Kirk and all his loved ones. We sympathize and empathy.

“What happened is a reflection of a deep distribution in society. I do not believe in the United States that it is necessary to escalate the situation externally, because the political leadership of the country works inland,” he added.
Kirk was shot and killed in September while speaking at Utah Valley University.
His alleged murderer, Tyler Robinson, is confronted with seven charges, including worsened murder, who carries the potential death penalty; crime dismissal of a firearm; Obstruction and witness tampering.
Robinson returned to the court on Monday and is planned to appear again on October 30. Prosecutors said they had already collected “voluminous” evidence against him.

The murder of Kirk has intensified the debate on political violence in the United States. Republican leaders have urged Democrats to moderate their rhetoric against President Donald Trump and to embrace more tolerance for opposing views.
In addition to tackling the death of Kirk, Putin responded to Trump’s recent characterization of Russia as a ‘paper tiger’.
“A paper tiger? Then deal with this paper tiger,” said Putin. “If we fight against the entire NATO block, move forward and feel confident, and we are still called a paper tiger, how does that make NATO itself?”

Last week Trump predicted that Ukraine could recover all his territory from Russia before he labeled Moscow a ‘paper tiger’.
