Passengers aboard a flight from United Airlines say that they were stuck on the asphalt on Newark Liberty International Airport for seven hours before their flight was canceled when heavy weather caused delays at airports along the east coast on Monday evening.
Flavia Deluczas told WXYZ-TV That she was one of the dozens of passengers on board a United flight to Detroit with limited access to food and water.
“I was super grateful that I ate before I got on the plane because I would have been without a meal for seven hours,” said Deluczas. “The only thing that panicked me a bit is that they walked very low on water, so I just feel that if we had been there for longer, it would have been a situation without water.”
Flightaware data showed Tuesday 159 cancellations on Newark Airport, with dozens of flights delayed or canceled at other airports in the area.
