After almost 150 days since President Donald Trump was the office, the US still does not have an ambassador in the United Nations despite geopolitics that a cornerstone role plays in his second term.
After the withdrawal of Elise Stefanik from the nomination at the end of March that Republicans could not hold her New York seat in the case of a special election, Trump nominated former national security adviser Mike Waltz for the top job on 1 May.
Although his nomination process is now just improving if the Senate Committee for Foreign Relations, which must vote on his confirmation before a full senate vote can be issued, she only confirmed receipt of the nomination on Thursday.

Schaefer explained that although the US does not have the UN approved by the Senate, this does not mean that the administration has no representatives at the UN headquarters in New York to stimulate American interests.
The US, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, continues to hold its position and the ability to use veto powers, should a large geopolitics policy take effect, such as the use of Snapback Sanctions against Iran.
Although the US has represented if an emergency meeting would be called up, as Iran was by Iran after Israel’s on Thursday evening military strikes, the ambassador is seen as the direct ear of the president and can therefore be more in more influential if it is at the top of the best international body.

Wachtel also pointed out that with all the conflicts around the world, whether the US is directly involved or not, including the Russian war in Ukraine, the war of Israel against Iran and in Gaza, as well as wider crises such as World Hunger, Washington need his voice, his opponents will remain.
“[There’s] Just too many things in the world and too much ground to cover, “Wachtel added.” And instead of hearing the American voice [at the UN]You will have the press corps here and diplomats will listen more to the arguments of our opponents, to be honest. ”
