The voluntary new pilot program, designed to offer ‘safe, predictable access to GHF’s Food Aid Pakkels’, which will be launched on Sunday in the Saudi neighborhood with 350 participants and is expected to pick up on complete implementation in the coming weeks while the foundation works to develop extra distribution sites.
GHF said that the new system, which only women includes days and lanes and community -based distribution, has long been requested by the community and has been modeled on programs used by humanitarian organizations in Gaza and all over the world. GHF said that the pilot is the newest example of the continuous efforts of the foundation to ‘meet the very dynamic needs on the spot’.
Under the new system, a trained local employee invites beneficiaries to participate. Those who voluntarily choose on the program will have their photo taken and receive an identification card with their photo and a unique number. GHF said that beneficiaries have the opportunity to create a profile online, where they can enter information such as household size.
The foundation said that a box with help on specific days will be reserved for each participant, “eliminate the need to participate in the hurry.”
“It has always been our plan to offer families a way to reserve help in advance and to guarantee access, just like other aid organizations,” said Acree. “Until now, however, the circumstances on the site have made the implementation of such a program impossible. But with more help that flows to Gaza and the deliveries of GHF, the availability of food helps to improve the circumstances. We are proud to take this step to deliver the requests of the community and make distributions that we serve.”
