From the diplomacy of President Ronald Reagan to President Donald Trump aimed at Iran’s illegal nuclear program, one truth has never changed: when the United States appears, the world is safer and America is stronger.
This time and time again I have seen whether I was working on the policy of the fight against terrorism in the House of Representatives or helping the national intelligence strategy in the Senate. We do not project strength by withdrawing from the world. We do it by hiring leadership, building partnerships and investing in the world to protect our own national interests.
That is why it is considered by the congress by the congress, every American must involve national security, the global stability and the economic well -being of communities at home here. This is a threat that we cannot ignore.

It is time for a clear conversation about accountability in international aid. The Trump government has rightly terminated programs that do not serve our national interests. Some have demanded, unused or expired funds. That is incorrect. The majority of the cutbacks would influence the resources that have just been adopted by the congress in March designated for urgent national security needs, not programs that have already been terminated. Simply put, we cannot end the same programs twice.
Effective international aid is a strategic investment that promotes American interests in the long term. When we collaborate with emerging economies, help stabilizing volatile regions and offering aids to combat poverty, illness and hunger, we do not only do well. We are smart.

While China steadily increases its diplomatic influence, the US is considering sharp instructions that will weaken our influence in important regions.
