President Donald Trump’s bizarre coin toss during the 126th Army-Navy NCAA college football game has sparked a tsunami of jokes on social media — and a huge amount of criticism.
On Saturday, Trump continued a long-running tradition among sitting U.S. presidents by attending the game. During the game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, he entered the field to participate in the game ceremonial coin toss before the gameand vViewers couldn’t help but notice that there was something atypical about the right-wing leader’s throw.
During the toss, Trump appeared to haphazardly toss the coin in the air rather than flick it. Without actually spinning, the coin landed on the grass before the president bizarrely pointed to it. The coin eventually landed on tails, giving the Army Black Knights the advantage.
Social media users on X, formerly Twitter, had a lot to say about Trump’s unconventional bid.
“Trump with one of the worst coin tosses I’ve ever seen lmao,” one person said wrote.
Another one said, “Throw it over like he was trying to lie, I’m dead.”
“I know it’s just a toss but that shape was horrible. You turn it with your thumb. It looked like he threw a dead fish,” said a separate X user commented.
Someone else joked that Trump’s faux pas “would probably have made a fantastic throw in a game of cornhole.”
“It looked like he thought it was a bird that had to fly away,” said another added.
One X user argued“It’s possible he doesn’t understand how coin toss works.”
“If he had released a dove, that would have been PERFECT!!!” someone else joked.
The White House did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.
Heading into the Army-Navy game, Trump teased that he would not reveal who he was championing in the battle between the military branches.
“Preparing to land at Fort McHenry for my short drive to the Army-Navy Game,” he wrote in a message. Truth Social Post. “Everyone asks who I support: Army or Navy? My answer is, ‘You must be kidding me if you think I’m going to give you that answer!'”
