President Donald Trump has reportedly gifted Florsheim shoes to top government officials, making the 134-year-old brand an unexpected status symbol in the White House.
Trump has surprised a number of Cabinet members, White House advisers and members of Congress with the shoes — sometimes even guessing their sizes and instructing staff to place the orders. The president personally pays for the footwear, The Wall Street Journal reports this.
During Cabinet meetings, Trump reportedly even asked recipients, “Did you get the shoes?”
Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick are among those who received pairs, the Journal said.

“All the guys have them,” a White House official said.
Trump recently went shopping for shoes for long work days and chose Florsheim, whose shoes typically sell for about $145.
Some officials now wear the shoes when they are around the president, and in some cases reluctantly, the Journal reported.

During an Oval Office meeting in December, Trump reportedly noticed Vance and Rubio’s shoes, suggested they needed an upgrade and asked about their sizes, the Journal reported.
“You know, you can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size,” Vance later recalled telling Trump.
A photo of Rubio’s shoes has since gone viral, with some online critics speculating that his pair appeared too big.
