Trump held an event at the White House late Friday afternoon, ostensibly about drug prices, which, if covered by an objective media complicit and in league with the current administration, would set off alarm bells about whether a Democratic president has ever sounded as incoherent as Donald Trump.
The video can easily be glossed over, especially when someone has told as many lies and babbled as many words over the past decade as Donald Trump, but transcripts of the words the man actually puts together are more revealing.
Here’s Donald Trump talking about prescription drug prices:
And we did, and I was so proud of myself. We called the press conference. I announced it. It was an eighth of 1%, an eighth of 1%. Now drug prices will drop in some cases by a hundred percent, 400%, 600%, a thousand percent, but for an eighth of a cent. Bobby, think about that. I was so proud because no one had done it for 28 years.
And now it’s, I think back to that, I said I shouldn’t have had that press conference, but it’s true. I was the only one who did it, but it wasn’t much. And now we’re getting, in some cases, a thousand percent reduction. This is going to have a huge impact on everything from Social Security to Medicare to Medicaid, everything where they buy prescription drugs, it’s going to have an incredible impact.
It will degrade itself greatly.
Video:
It is impossible to reduce the price of any good by more than 100%. It’s basic math. Trump’s claim to cut prices by 1,000% means that Americans will be paid ten times the drug’s value by the drug companies to take the drugs.
Put in those terms, the madness is clear, but things were only just beginning to go off the rails.
