The United States is in the midst of a historic government shutdown. At the current rate, the shutdown will break the record set by the Trump administration’s first shutdown in 2018-2019. There is no end in sight to the shutdown, but members of both parties are calling on the President of the United States to join in.
The same president who has tried to resolve wars in Gaza and Ukraine with what appears to be almost zero success, while Ukraine is still fighting for its life and the ceasefire in Gaza is already being violated on a regular basis.
Polling has never been a friend of Donald Trump during his time in office. The latest major nonpartisan poll shows Trump’s approval rating falling to 37%. For context, Trump’s hardcore support base has traditionally been between 30% and 35%, so Trump is getting close to having only his base support in his corner.
Add to that rising prices, unpopular tariffs, inflation and a weak labor market, his deployment of the military in American cities, and this president has a lot of problems he would have to deal with.
On Saturday, at least 7 million Americans took to the streets in cities large and small to protest against Donald Trump.
Since Trump no longer has to face the voters, he has chosen to ignore what anyone else wants. He has been very open about doing what he wants with his presidency, which is the opposite of representative democracy.
Millions upon millions of people protested to loudly announce their opposition to the direction Trump is taking the country.
They said America has no kings, and those who defend Trump by saying he is not king were sabotaged by their own president.
