America has had its share of bad wartime presidents. For every FDR in World War II, there was an LBJ in Vietnam or a George W. Bush in Iraq. If we look at the television era alone, it appears that the bad wartime presidents have outnumbered the good ones.
However, never in the history of the United States has a president started a war and been so inept he gave billions of dollars to the country he is currently at war with.
That’s what Donald Trump is about to do for the Iranian regime.
Senator Chris Murphy spoke about the rudderless madness of the Iran war on NBC’s Meet The Press:
But the government has already said that their goal is not regime change. They are perfectly content to leave leadership of Iran to a regime that will be worse for American interests than the previous regime. What we know is that as soon as we stop bombing, this new regime will start rebuilding their missile capability and their drone capability. Estimates are that it will take only a handful of months to remediate that threat.
So what did we get at the end of this war?
We’re going to waste billions of dollars. Dozens, if not hundreds, of Americans will be killed. We are going to cause new conflicts in the region. And when it’s all said and done, will a more provocative regime take charge with the same military capabilities? This is nonsensical. This is what happens when you put real estate developers and talk show hosts in charge of America’s national security.
This is nonsense and incredibly inconvenient, as Murphy further pointed out.
