Under the leadership of President Donald Trump we have the chance to make the officials great again.
In many ways the founders were the original officials. They were the starting founders who inspired generations to work on behalf of the American Dream long before an institutionalized civil servant was formalized by the Pendleton Civil Service Act of 1883 and strengthened by the leadership of Theodore Roosevelt as commissioner of the uses of civil service commission, the Die de Vor de Vor de Vor de Vor de Vor de Vor The Predicted Service Commission, The Predicted Service, the Predicted Service, The Preductors.
In two and a half centuries since the founding of our nation, officials have responded to the Clarion call of the noblest missions: from forming our nation after the American revolution to ultimately cementing our supremacy during the Cold War by literally shooting the Moon via the Apollo program. These daring supplications inspired the best and smartest of the nation to embrace public services.

For more than 50 years since the Apollo landing, however, the importance of the public in the civil servant has been reduced to the earth. Many founders of fathers such as Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were PolyMaths who chose to concentrate their genius on creating the best government that the world had ever seen. But if Alexander Hamilton, our Prime Minister of Finance, lived today, he would probably work in Silicon Valley of Wall Street, rather than in the federal government.

How did we get here?
First, the mission – Since the days of Moonshots, federal staff has not been asked to “dream” or innovate. Instead, they have been given the task of managing minor problems, maintaining the status quo and at all costs to protect the disadvantage.
Secondly, incentives – Power and Prestige stem from the size of the workforce and the budget of an agency. In all cases, more is better.
China operates the technical weakness of our government. We need a quick restart
Thirdly, the lack of a powerful culture-a focus on equity above merit and work stability above accountability.
Fourth, the treatment of technology as a second-class citizen-in place has been the answer to most problems more workforce.
Fifth, a weapon -long relationship with the private sector that does not create a partnership, especially when it comes to attracting talent in critical areas.

But we can and want to solve this
Firstly, Trump has no shortage of moonshots to transform the economic future of America – winning in artificial intelligence, to let go of American energy, to bring about a revolution in financial technology with cryptocurrencies, again industrialize the heart, making America healthy again, and the list continues. Inspiring missions inspire great spirits who want to be part of something real transformationals.

Secondly, changing the stimuli that ultimately stimulate the behavior of the civil service. If we give employees permission to take “measured” risks, to think from first principles, to be willing to manage new ideas with the concept that we will not score 100%, to make operational efficiency and stewardship of taxpayer Dollars a first -class citizen, we can change behavior. Let us reward the creativity, constant improvement and do more with less; Power may no longer come from organizational bloat, but rather to financially healthy results.
Thirdly, we can create a powerful culture. We must disproportionately reward those who create the most value for the taxpayer and remove employees from the organization that are unable to respond to guidelines for performance improvement. No longer “peanut butter” of annual evaluations and bonuses to reach share goals; We have to demand excellence instead.
But if Alexander Hamilton, our Prime Minister of Finance, lived today, he would probably work in Silicon Valley of Wall Street, rather than in the federal government.
Fourth, make the approval of technology an important principle of success. The government must be a leading test soil for new technologies, instead of the last bastion of Mainframe computers. Eliminate the bias “not invented” that penetrates the approval of the government of technology; We do not have to build tailor -made applications when third parties have superior solutions.

Finally, embrace the private sector to work together on talent. We can build public-private exchanges, secondment options and higher educational paths to ensure that the government gains access to the best and smartest. Of course, many people can choose to spend the majority of their career in the private sector, but they can still contribute to success in the public sector.
President Trump heralds a golden age for America by reforming the government bureaucracy to work for the American people. We will make the civil service great again. The future of our nation depends on it.
