The Trump administration has backtracked on Putin’s list of demands that Donald Trump has repackaged as a peace plan.
Trump’s own Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, responded very unreliably on Meet The Press when asked whether Russia wrote the peace plan.
Bessent said:
I have no information on that, Kristen. But I can tell you that I am the highest-ranking American official to visit Ukraine. I went last February. And when I went last February, I went with an economic cooperation agreement between the US and Ukraine. President Zelensky opposed this. The same people you just mentioned opposed it.
The mainstream media has resisted this. You know what? We did it three months later and now it is the center of the Ukrainian economy. That this agreement even finances military installations for the highly innovative military sector in Ukraine. So you know, I would be very careful with conventional wisdom. And to get back to your question: these are peace negotiations.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is going around telling anyone who will listen that what Trump called a peace plan is NOT the American plan.
Apparently Trump is laundering everything Putin sends and passes on to him.
Trump’s rejection of Russia’s conditions for Ukraine’s surrender sent Trump into a tailspin on Sunday.
