Days after Trump spoke to the nation and proclaimed that the US was militarily dominant over Iran, the Iranians shot down a US fighter jet and one pilot is still missing. Two Blackhawk helicopters that took part in the search and rescue mission in which one pilot was recovered also came under fire by the Iranians.
It is clear that the situation in Iran is nothing like the president described, so now that an American pilot is missing in Iran, the president has some explaining to do to the country, but even though he is in Washington DC over the Easter weekend, Donald Trump has disappeared from public view.
Trump did not appear before reporters or ask any questions.
Hugo Lowell of The Guardian posted on X:
The White House has called a travel/photo alert as of 11 a.m. ET, which means we don’t expect the president to be in Washington for the rest of the day as Trump is in Washington this weekend, but we have yet to have a formal news briefing on the missing airman situation in Iran.
Apparently even Trump is smart enough to understand that it would look bad if he flew to Florida to play golf while an American pilot is missing in Iran, but I’m sure Trump has plenty of messages of support on his social media account for the troops, the country and the missing pilot’s family.
