Nobody expected that the last home passage of tax cuts for the rich, while they removed food and health care from millions to be easy. Trump and speaker Mike Johnson made the task even more difficult with an artificial deadline who let them muscles due to a changed piece of legislation in two days.
So far it is almost expected.
So far a couple of HFC members say that they will vote no. Norman told us that he is a NO about the rule and on the bill. Roy had a lot of worries about projections that the package could add trillion dollars to the shortage. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-areas) said on the local radio that he does not believe that the bill will “pass as it is” and said he agreed with Elon Musk that the bill is “bad”.
Trump and Johnson let a lot of these Republicans turned around last time with the idea that the bill would get better. That string is on.
….
We spoke with different people in the Gop Whip team on Tuesday evening who expressed the alarm about what they saw on their whip cards. These sources said they would pick up no’s from legislators that they did not expect to be against the bill.
There are currently between one and two dozen republicans say they will vote no. This list contains no rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) who is already a confirmed no. Because Massie is a no, Republicans can lose two votes before the bill drops.
When I said during the live chat at the daily, There are two paths for the BBB. Or it goes closely, or it crashes spectacular and burns when a large number of home republicans refuse to support it.
Huis republicans have learned that there is strength in numbers, because Trump is a bully that prefers individuals. They can avoid Trump’s wrath by staying together in groups, so if this bill fails and is kicked back to the Senate, this will be because more than a few house republicans said no.
The Republicans of the house have no reason to push the bill this week. They would risk their seats, so that Trump gets a photo-on before July 4. If they reject the Senate Act, they will force it to be changed.
Trump and Johnson may still get this bill on, but there are major problems, and it will certainly not be easy.
