City Harvest, New York’s first and largest food relief organization, was back with its sixth annual Celebrity Chefs & Friends Golf and Tennis Tournament to raise money for a great cause.
Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, New Jersey was the site for friendly competition on the course and on the courses, but then also for a small food and wine festival – all created to impact those in need across the five boroughs.
“This year, City Harvest will rescue more than 86 million pounds of high-quality, nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste, delivering that food for free to hundreds of soup kitchens and food partners across the five boroughs,” said Executive Chef Kerry Heffernan, the tennis chairman of City Harvest, said during his remarks as guests enjoyed food and drinks from some of the best restaurants and chefs New York City has to offer during the tasting.

After raising enough money for 1.2 million meals during the 2024 tournament, this year’s event raised enough money to feed 1.5 million New Yorkers in need.
Annika Sörenstam, perhaps the greatest female golfer of all time, flew from Orlando to host the event. While she enjoyed hosting a small clinic before everyone played their round, where there were more food and drink options scattered around the course, Sörenstam said she had never experienced anything like what City Harvest put together.

While the culinary options and expertise were on full display at the golf club, many celebrities also joined the cause, including National Baseball Hall of Famer CC Sabathia, Super Bowl champion Justin Tuck, former MLB All-Star Chris Young and hip-hop artist Ja Rule to name a few.

While Sörenstam shone on the court, tennis legend Patrick McEnroe stood on the court and enjoyed interacting and playing with the people on that side.
While City Harvest continues to provide New Yorkers with free, nutritious food, it is also committed to strengthening agencies and the local food system through advocacy, volunteerism, nutrition and culinary education and more.
“Everyone has a big heart here,” Sörenstam added. “They have a passion for cooking, they love golf and tennis and bringing everyone together. Ultimately it makes a difference in the lives of so many people.
