Moderate house republicans tell leadership in both the house and the senate that they will vote against the senate version of the Big Beautiful Bill and the changes that Senate Republicans reside in Medicaid in the legislation.
A group of 16 house republicans – led by more moderate rep. DAVID VALADAO – On Tuesday, sent a letter to Thune and speaker Mike Johnson and suggests that they are willing to vote against the legislation that comes from the Senate if it includes a reduction in the Medicaid Provider Tax.
…
The members of the house also say that they are concerned about the “hurried implementation period lines, fines for expansion states, changes to the requirements of the community involvement for adults with people and cuts on emergency financing of Medicaid.”
…
“Protecting Medicaid is essential for the vulnerable voters we have chosen to represent. That is why we cannot support a definitive bill that threatens access to coverage or endangers the stability of our hospitals and providers,” the members wrote.
The list of Representatives who signed this bill reads like who’s who of endangered 2026 House Republicans including Valadao, Rob Bresnahan, Young Kim, Mike Lawler, Juan Ciscomani, Chuck Edwards, Andrew Garbarino, Jen Kiggans, Jeff Van Drew, Dan Newhouse, Rob Wittman, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Don Bacon, Zach Nunn, Nicole Malliotakis and Jeff Hurd.
The original bill of the house was adopted with a single mood, so if even some of these Republicans decide that they are not votes on the senate version, this cycle of the bill would be dead.
The Senate should start again. The home version of the bill cannot pass the Senate, which means that if the Senate passes its own version, the two versions of the bill should go to the conference and negotiate a final invoice.
All this can take months, and that means that Trump will not sign the legislation by July 4.
The big beautiful bill is in big great problems. The Senate is expected to vote for his version of the bill from Friday and continue until the weekend.
The prospects for the account look at his best Dicey. The protests and public expressions work. House republicans are worried about losing their job, and if the American people keep the pressure on, they can beat the big great account.
