Californian Democrats are trying to set up the system again, overthrow elections and steal congress seats from Republicans. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta are planning to re -draw the California congress cards in 2025 or 2026, halfway through the decade and years before the next census. This is not about “fairness” or “democracy”. It is a blatant, unconstitutional grip that is designed to silence millions of voters and cement one party rule in California.
Democrats are trying to rewrite all the history of this redistribution fight and claim that it is just retribution for Republican maps in Texas. But let’s be clear: California started this.
The last redistribution cycle was corrupted by partisan agents who have set up the so-called “independent” citizens of California to deliver a Gerrymandered card. Republicans received 40% of the votes for the congress in 2022 but only 17% of the seats. Now, instead of waiting for the following census as required by the law, Newsom and Bonta are urging to again sign the cards halfway through the decade to squeeze even more unfair representation for their party.
I’m not going to let it happen. I will fight this for the courts and in the court of public opinion because California belongs to all of us, not only the democratic elites trying to hold on to power.

It is clearly wrong to draw cards again without a different number of population. Since the last census, millions have fled in California, driven by Covid Lockdowns, high taxes and priceless homes. Add to this the destruction of forest fires such as the 2025 Los Angeles Inferno that has destroyed entire communities. Where have all those people go? Gavin Newsom doesn’t know and doesn’t matter. He wants to draw the cards again.
California lost a conference chair in 2020 for the first time in our history and we have seen a further Net population loss From almost 500,000 more since then. Redistricting must reflect these realities. That is just common sense.
But it is not only clearly wrong to draw cards again without a census, it is illegal.
Article 21 of the Californian Constitution is crystal clear: redistribution takes place once a decade, in the year after the national census. That was the law before the voters approved the Citizens Redistricting Commission, and it was then mentioned again. In fact, California Supreme Court has already judged this exact issue. In Legislative power v. DukmejianThe court said that redistribution is a trial of once a decade, directly bound to the census. A hurried redistribution schedule, five years after the last census, would be contrary to the state. You cannot just ignore the rules if they do not benefit your party.

Newsom and Bonta have an answer to this: their power-grab scheme includes a hurried “special election” to cancel Article 21 of the State Group, to grasp the power of the Citizens Redistricting Commission and to do cards to steal five conference seats from Republicans.

But here is the error in their plan. It is not only Article 21 of the State Group that they would violate. It is not just the Constitution of California.
The fourteenth amendment to the American Constitution guarantees every citizen equal protection under the law, including equal representation. That principle was re -confirmed in Reynolds v. Sims, An orientation point of the Supreme Court with all legislative districts must have approximately the same population. The federal clause for equal protection is also reflected in the state control of California, in Article 1.

Without a new census there is no way to ensure that the standard for equal protection – that legislative districts must have approximately equal populations – is met. Any redistribution that is being done now would be based on Giswerk, no facts.
So here is what I will do. If Newsom and Bonta continue with their illegal schedule, I will turn on a dual legal challenge. Firstly, we will submit a case in the constitutional court to stop the plan under the Constitution of California and the long -term legal precedent. At the same time, we are taking on the fight to the federal court and claim that their actions violate the clause for the same protection of the American Constitution and the precedent of the American Constitution. We will use any legal tool that is available to stop this shameful attempt at Gymander California in favor of Democrats.
Despite all their endless lectures about ‘protecting our democracy’, Democrats really only care about the preservation of their power. The last redistribution round in California was supposed to not be -party -bound, handled by the Citizens Redistricting Commission. That is why Republicans only have 17% of house districts for around 40% of the mood in the entire state.
