Former football player and media personality Shannon Sharpe will not return to his hosting tasks at ESPN after a scheme with an ex-girlfriend who accused him of rape, according to several reports.
On Wednesday, two weeks after the settlement was reached with the prosecutor of Sharpe, ESPN officially broke the ties with him, The athletics first reported. ESPN refused to comment on the publication.
The NFL Hall of Famer said in April that he “would temporarily go aside” of his role as a football analyst after the $ 50 million court case was brought against him.
The woman, referred to as Jane Doe in the court case, said she was 20 when she first met Sharpe in a gym in Los Angeles in 2023. After a “rocky consensual relationship” for almost two years, the woman claimed that it was “offensive”.
The lawsuit accused Sharpe of forcing the woman in a car and then force her to give him oral sex before she raped her anally. In another case in January, the lawsuit said that Sharpe has sexually abused the woman without a condom.
Jane Doe’s Advocaat, Tony Buzbee, announced the settlement In a post of 18 July on X, but did not specify the conditions of the agreement.
“Both parties recognize a consensual and tumultuous long -term relationship,” said Buzbee. “After prolonged and respectful negotiations, I am pleased that we have reached a mutually agreed solution. All matters have now been tackled to satisfaction and the case has been closed. The court case will therefore be rejected with prejudice.”
