Reigning world champion of 100 meters Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested last weekend because she reportedly abused her boyfriend at the international airport of Seattle-Tacoma.
Richardson was arrested on Sunday at a fourth degree domestic violence, according to the police report obtained by the Associated Press. On Thursday she ran in the opening of the 100 meters of the ladies on US Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. She has an automatic bye for the World Championships in September in Tokyo as the defending champion.
The 25-year-old Richardson was booked in the South Correctional Entity (score) in Des Moines, Washington, last Sunday at 6.54 pm and released Monday at 1:13 pm
“Usatf is aware of the reports and does not comment on this matter,” said USA Track and Field in a statement.
The Richardson agent did not immediately respond to an e -mail request for comments.
The police report said that an officer at the airport was informed by a supervisor of the Transport Security Administration about a malfunction between Richardson and her friend, Sprinter Christian Coleman.
The officer rated camera images and observed Richardson with her left arm and grabbed Coleman’s backpack and pulled him away. Richardson then seemed to get in Coleman in Coleman with Coleman who tried to step around her. Coleman was pushed into a wall.
The report later said that Richardson seemed to throw an item at Coleman, the TSA indicated that it might be a headphone.
In the police report the officer said: “I was told that Coleman did not want to participate in the investigation and refused to become a victim.”
Richardson won the 100 at the 2023 world championships in Budapest and ended with the Silver on the Paris Games last summer. She also helped the 4×100 relay to an Olympic gold.
She had a positive Positive Marijuana Test During the Olympic tests of 2021, they did not compete at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
