An example of how deep in the tank the regular media are for Donald Trump took place on ABCs this week, when guest Senator Chris van Hollen spoke about the use of troops in Washington, DC
Van Hollen (D-MD) said:
All this is a total abuse of power. It is a manufactured emergency. If you wanted to see an emergency in Washington, DC, that was back on January 6, 2021, who did not do the National Guard on time.
Here, of course, DC can do more to reduce violent crime, as we can throughout the country. But as you have indicated, crime in DC is at a lowest point of 30 years and a downward route. So this is all a chance for Donald Trump to play dictator in Washington, DC
Instead, together with the republicans of the house, he would release the $ 1 billion – $ 1 billion in money that belongs to the population of DC that they hold that DC could use to hire more police.
Video:
ABC’s Martha Raddatz felt the need to push back on the idea that Trump is abusing his power: “Let’s talk about it. You call it – you call it this power he is – a movement of a dictator. But the way in which the law is written, it seems that he has promised the legal authority.”
Van Hollen (D-MD) explained:
The abuse of power claims that this is an emergency. And everyone who looks at what happens, knows that this is not an emergency in Washington, DC
So he uses this technical provision in the law, but I would clearly claim that he is abused to produce this – this emergency situation. And now he has 30 days in which he can act. At that time, of course, to keep acting, he needs the congress to expand it.
It is not a difficult concept. When a president uses a false pretension to exercise his power, it is a abuse of power.
There is no reason for the regular media to wonder if Trump, DC, abused his power in Washington.
Is there an emergency for crime? No? Then Donald Trump abuses his power by pretending there is one.
The exchange of this week, which is broadcast on a network that has solved a fake right case with Trump, shows how the regular press has chosen to ignore Trump’s abuse of power.
Fortunately, the American people have not sold out democracy, although the regular media seem to have.
