America’s immigration crisis is slightly even more dangerous – the intentional erosion of the rule of law. More than 560 jurisdictions now work as shrines, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Sanctuary City policy not only ignores the federal authority – they encourage criminals, handcuffs law enforcement and leave innocent Americans to pay the price.
These cities believe that they are inviolable, but there is a solution that hides in sight. President Trump already showed the nation how they deal with institutions that defy the federal law. When Columbia University refused to tackle anti -Semitism, the Trump government froze its federal financing and won. The same strategy can dismantle the sanctuary policy through the city.
We need a course correction in Trump style-one that applies financial pressure and legal accountability to restore the rule of law.
Trump Doj sues New York City for the long -term immigration policy of the sanctuary
And make no mistake, refuge cities are not only opposed to immigration enforcement, they force taxpayers to subsidize, nourish and house invasic power that causes riots and flooded our streets with crime. Socialism flows from top to bottom – through blue cities, blue states and left -wing institutions. These cities normalize challenging, celebrate lawlessness and place politics above public safety.
I not only speak as a lawyer, but as a legal immigrant who believes deeply in the American dream and in the laws that protect it. Between June 2023 and July 2024, the New York City Department of Correction only enforced 4% of the ice detail requests. This means that they allowed thousands of violent criminals to run free after they were marked for criminal deportation. Two of them later killed an off-duty customs and border protection officer.
The Democrats of California promote and protect the same lawlessness. Since 2022, California has refused more than 13,000 ICE Detainer applications, including 72 with regard to murder taxes. When violent protests broke out in Los Angeles in 2025, so that the intervention of the National Guard was needed, it became painfully clear that this was coordinated, deliberate chaos.
The refusal of local leaders to enforce immigration laws, Americans says that their safety is not a priority. They mask that message in moral rhetoric – the submission is about protecting the vulnerable. But who protects the citizens, victims and entrepreneurs? We must start asking who is being protected in these so -called shrines?
America is a nation of laws, no meshes. However, the growing city movement of the sanctuary to raise ideology to enforcement threatens that basis. If these cities today ignore immigration laws, what does them prevent them from ignoring the federal protection of civil rights, environmental rules or national security guidelines tomorrow? Nothing.
Fortunately, President Trump has already demonstrated a Playbook that works.
In 2025, his administration held the Columbia University responsible after it had accepted millions of taxpayers, but failed to tackle anti -Semitism, so Title VI was violated. When Columbia refused to act, the administration froze $ 400 million in federal financing. The school quickly agreed to pay $ 221 million, reform its policy and settle. That is how you deal with elite settings that believe they are above the law.
We must apply the same strategy to cities of shrines.
First, Defund Sanctuary Cities. In January 2017, President Trump signed an executive order with which the federal government could withhold Doj and DHS subsidies from Jurisdictions of shrines. In 2018, California lost $ 200 million to federal funds and soon started to cooperate. President Trump should double this strategy: Doj financing contains, FEMA -Subsidies, HUD -money, Slash Community Development Block subsidies -and everything from Sanctuary cities who have faith. Even if the courts block broadly, federal agencies can still set subsidies for compliance and re -assign money to authorities -abiding cities.

Then Sue Sanctuary Cities under the Supremacy clause. Trump’s Doj sued California in 2018 about the Senate Bill 54, forcing the state to be forced to scale back its sanctuary protection. In July 2025, the administration submitted a new Supremacy clause right case against New York City. Similar lawsuits are underway in Los Angeles, Chicago and cities in New Jersey and Illinois. These legal measures must go further – looking for orders and even criminal references for civil servants who knowingly and knowingly hinder federal enforcement.

We earn leaders who put citizens first, protect the innocent and hold the culprits responsible. And we earn a country that honors its laws, because there is no America without them.
America first cities rise. Trump should learn Sanctuary Cities by defending them and complaining in compliance. It is the fastest way to protect our citizens and to give a permanent lesson.
