The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov may want to bring China into current negotiations, since NATO leaders and Ukrainian officials meet this week to discuss security guarantees for Kiev.
Lavrov suggested that Moscow was only interested in “really reliable” guarantees for Ukraine, of which he argued that he should be based on a design agreement of 2022 that was discussed by Ukrainian and Russian negotiators in the early days of the war.
But the proposal never flourished because of an important bottleneck for Kiev, which argued that the Moscow plan gave too much power over its safety.

The proposal is said to have given Ukraine security guarantees of a group of countries, including the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – of which Russia is part – of which Kyiv said that Moscow gave Veto powers effective about all future attempts to offer military assistance.
China is also a member of the UN Security Council and has not only drawn international research because of the refusal to condemn the illegal invasion of Russia, but has to do with international reprimand about his support to Moscow during the war.
“Russia agrees that Ukraine security guarantees are provided on the same basis with the participation of countries such as China, the US, Great -Britain and France,” said Lavrov on Wednesday, according to a translation by Russian state media Ria in a position on Telegram.
Although it is unlikely that Ukraine would agree to a plan that would grant Russia, and possibly China, every authority about its future security, Beijing said that it supports “fair and objective” peace talks.

“China is ready, in the light of the will of the parties involved and together with the rest of the international community, to continue to play a constructive role for the political regulation of the crisis,” Liu added.
Lavrov further accused NATO leaders of ‘unethical attempts to personally change the position of the Trump Government and the President of the United States’ after meeting President Donald Trump in Washington, DC on Monday
Few details of the meetings have emerged as leaders from Europe, Ukraine and top officials of Trump, including vice -president JD Vance, State Secretary Marco Rubio and the envoy Steve Witkoff of the White House, try to establish the security conditions for Ukraine.
Although Lavrov, who has long made controversial comments, described Monday meetings as “a fairly aggressive escalation of the situation” and “rather awkward”.
“It’s noise,” said the diplomat. “On Monday, unity of unity placed behind Ukraine [Russian President Vladimir] Putin on the rear foot. These comments point to typical Russian play and unreliability – at a time they would do well to seriously participate in the urge of President Trump to Peace. “
