Eighy-two people have now died, including 28 children, after a deadly flash flood in Central Texas on Friday. The death toll is expected to climb higher as 40 people miss.
When the most deadly flood takes place in a century in the United States, it is logical and a matter of public safety to demand answers.
Senate -remedy leader Chuck Schumer has written the acting inspector general of the Commerce department that demands an investigation.
These are all valid questions that deserve answers. It is unlikely that it was a coincidence that Donald Trump returned to function and scored major weather monitoring and research agencies, after which the worst loss of life in a flood in the United States took place under his watch.
The situation is much more nuanced than Trump made cuts and people died, but it is essential to ask whether Trump’s actions have left the National Weather Service and have contributed to the loss of life.
The primary role of every government is to protect and protect its people. There was a failure or several failures at possibly multiple government levels.
It is vital to have an independent investigation, because Republicans at all levels of this disaster have a stimulus to wipe this under the carpet or blame it.
Republicans have not been interested in rule for decades, so if Democrats do not call research and assessment, who is?
The motive should be to determine what went wrong and to ensure that it never happens again. The United States have spent decades building a weather warning system to help people survive natural disasters. There are some extraordinary stories about lives saved because of the work of both Republicans and Democrats.
What happened in the center of Texas was a failure of the system that requires a study of everything, including Trump’s changes in the National Weather Service.
