To say that Republicans are feeling down about the Special legislative elections in Tennessee would be a major understatement.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are beginning to realize that only the reddest of red districts could be safe for them in 2026. Donald Trump is no longer the Republican asset that can get their voters to cast their ballots, and things could get very ugly quickly.
Things have gotten so bad that Republican House leadership is suggesting the party will be lucky if it wins a district that Donald Trump won by 22 points in 2024.
The idea that Democrats could flip this House seat would have been unfathomable even a few months ago. As things stand now, it would be a political earthquake if the Democrats won.
Keeping the margin within single digits would be a huge win for Democrats and confirm they have coast-to-coast momentum heading into 2026.
