The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said on Tuesday that it is actively investigating after a shipment of Walmart shrimp had been tested positively on a man-made radioactive material.
US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) warned the FDA for the detection of Cesium-137 (CS-137) Pollution in renders and frozen shrimp products incorporated in four American ports, including Los Angeles, HOUSSTON, MIAMI.
Civil servants collected several samples for radionuclide analysis and confirmed CS-157 in one sample of breaded shrimp. The shrimp supplier, pt. Bahari Makmur Sejati (AKA BMS Foods) has been added to the “Red List”, which means that the products cannot be sold in the US until the problem is solved.

Officials said the product seems to have been prepared, packaged or kept under insane circumstances, so that it is infected with CS-137.
After the CBP had marked the infected shipping containers, the FDA issued an import warning for chemical contamination on Thursday.
It is said that Walmart has imported potentially polluted rough frozen shrimp after the date of first detection by BP, but of shipments that were not warned about CS-137 according to the release.

The agency added that it cooperates with the Indonesian regulatory authorities of seafood to investigate the cause of the contamination.
FDA officials said that consumers are not allowed to eat or serve a great value of raw frozen shrimps of Walmart with party codes: 8005540-1, 8005538-1 and 8005539-1.
Those who recently bought the affected shrimp must throw them away, said civil servants.
