A mountain climber has written history by becoming the first person to ski Mount Everest without the use of additional oxygen, expedition organizers confirmed Thursday.
The performance of the Polish National Andrzej Bargiel is also praised as a milestone moment in the world of extreme endurance sports.
Bargiel, 37, hit the highest peak in the world on 29,032 feet on 22 September before he turned on his skis and started his large descent.
“I am standing on top of the highest mountain in the world and I will descend on skis,” said Bargiel in a video that was posted on his Instagram page before he pushed the snow top.

In the past, people have tried Everest ski runs, but none of them has completed the run without oxygen in bottles.
In 2000, the Slovenian Davorin Karnicar became the first to ski from the top to the base camp, but he trusted additional oxygen.
His brother, Bartek, helped by driving a drone that helped him safely through the glacier, AFP reported.
“This was extremely challenging and nobody had done it before,” Chhang Dawa Sherpa van Seven Summit told AFP.
