Patrick Mahomes Sr. allegedly violated his probation and was booked into the Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas. KLTV reports this Tuesday.
Citing District Attorney Jacob Putman, the ABC affiliate wrote that Mahomes was allegedly drinking alcohol — a violation of conditions placed on him after he pleaded guilty to DWI in February 2024. He was given five years’ probation.
Putman said Mahomes, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, could get a hearing to contest the charge.
The violation report alleged that Mahomes registered a high alcohol reading on his special ankle monitor on Jan. 1. noted TMZ.
The older Mahomes, who pitched for the New York Mets and several other teams in an MLB career spanning 11 seasonshas been arrested at least three times for driving under the influence.

The 2024 arrest was a distraction just days before his son played in the Super Bowl. The father was seen driving with an open can of 16 ounces of beer and then struggled with field sobriety tests to a statement from the police. He recorded a blood alcohol level of .23.
In a 2025 episode of ESPN’s docuseries “The kingdom,” the elder Mahomes expressed regret for dividing his son’s attention.
“For him to have to answer questions about me was probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever experienced in my life,” he said. per people. “I called him right after and told him, ‘I’m sorry it’s taking away your time and focus.’”
The football star said he hoped the incident would bring about change.
“I think knowing it hurt me woke him up and realized you can’t keep doing the same things,” the quarterback said.
