Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that a trade agreement with the US is “very close” after a meeting with State Secretary Marco Rubio on Friday, but officials in Washington did not offer a timeline.
“I think we are very close to completing a deal with the US,” said Dar on Friday in the think tank of the Atlantic Council. “Our teams have been here in Washington and discussed, with virtual meetings and a committee has been ordered by the prime minister to refine now.”

The Trump government has tried to negotiate trade agreements with many countries after announcing rates against tens in recent months.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, in separate statements after Rubio’s meeting with Dar, said that the two leaders spoke about the importance of expanding trade and ties in critical minerals and mining.

A timeline for completing a trade agreement was not mentioned in Rubio’s social media post or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that DAR “appreciated the crucial role” by President Donald Trump and Rubio “in de-escalating tensions between Pakistan and India by facilitating a ceasefire.”
The Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not mention the conflict with India.

Trump has repeatedly been given the honor for the cease -the fire between India and Pakistan that he announced on social media on 10 May after American officials have conversations with both countries.
Trump’s claims that it is chattering -the fires were fueled by its intervention and trading threats were disputed by India, who added that problems with Pakistan must be solved without outside involvement.
