Is it possible to like a politically charged film that can go against your own personal politics? Can one compartmentalize the current climate in which we live and appreciate the art that stands for them? Some may have to struggle with these questions before they see Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘one fight after the other’.
The film, inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s Reagan era Set-Roman “Vineland” was recorded in 2024 and Warner Bros. Would have released it, regardless of who won the last presidential elections. Given that Donald Trump is back in the White House, “one battle after the other” can be seen as a timely #resistic wet dream.

The verdict:
Watching a movie as well as “one fight after the other” comes down to the question of whether you can appreciate art that goes against your own politics. If you can’t do that, this may not be for you. But to see PTA go for action and DiCaprio Go for funny is just as radical as the French 75. It is a wild ride that is worth jumping further.
