In a moment of silence for Alex Pretti, the ICU nurse who was killed by federal agents in Minneapolis under questionable circumstances, spectators at the Minnesota Timberwolves game on Sunday made their voices heard loud and clear.
“Fuck ICE,” many shouted, referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The short commemoration started with an announcement when Pretti’s photo appeared on the scoreboard.
“Target Center, we are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Alex Pretti that occurred yesterday in Minneapolis,” the announcer said. “We extend our love, support and sincere sympathy to Alex’s family, friends and our community during this difficult time.”
Then silence was asked. After a few seconds, Pretti’s image went dark on the jumbotron and the passionate expletives flew.
It wasn’t the only demonstration during the match, it was that won by the Warriors111-85.
In the second quarter, fans chanted “ICE out!” in a video shared by Warriors reporter Joseph Dycus. They also held up “ICE OUT” signs in the arena.

The Timberwolves’ Dunk team also wore “ICE Out” T-shirts as they performed their acrobatic slams, video shown.
The game was played after being postponed for a day due to Pretti’s murder.
Protests have increased following the fatal officer-involved shootings of Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis. The Trump administration has sent ICE and US Border Patrol to the region over the objections of Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. The government has tried to blame the victims for the killings, portraying them as ‘ domestic terrorists but eyewitness accounts and video do not appear to support their claims.
