Trump issued the order and speaker Mike Johnson jumped into action and had the house accept a doomed continuous resolution to finance the government for 50 days that does nothing to restore ACA subsidies or to roll back medicaid cuts.
The final mood was 217-212. Two Republicans (Massie and Spartz) joined Democrats in Stem No, and one Democrat (Golden) joined Republicans and voted yes.
The margin for this passage of this bill came from Trump and Johnson.
Before the mood, Trump ordered house republicans to vote yes by posting on Truth Social:
Tomorrow, house republicans will take a very important mood to take a clean temporary financing account. The leader of the Democrats, Cryin ‘Chuck Schumer, wants to close the government. Republicans want the government to remain open. Every house republican has to unite and vote yes!
Democrats in the Senate have already made it clear that Johnson’s CR is doomed.
The Senate will vote for Johnson’s Cr. It will fail.
The Senate then goes on the break for a week and returns a day before the government no longer has money.
Senate majority leader John Thune focuses a mood on that day that he hopes it seems like Democrats are voting to close the government.
The reality is that, as the house removal leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said before the mood, Republicans check everything, so if the government is closed, this will be a Republican closure.
Video of Jeffries:
Republicans, by refusing to negotiate with Democrats about health care, set the wheels in motion for a potentially long -term closure of the government.
The problem around the closure is healthcare.
Republicans give Democrats the issue and the platform they need to recover the house.
The Gop is in a disaster because they blindly follow the orders of Donald Trump.
