The deadly stabbing of the 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s Lightrail last month shows everything that President Donald Trump warned about violent crime.
The 34-year-old suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., was previously arrested 14 times. However, this career criminal had been free to roam the streets thanks to Democrats who checked law enforcement in Charlotte at every level. Victims such as Zarutska are sacrificed when crime remains with impunity.
As the transport secretary of President Donald Trump, I have seen first -hand how leadership can change chaos in order. From building a completely new air traffic control system to cleaning up DC’s Union Station, we have proven that the American decline is not inevitable; It’s a choice. Nowhere is this clearer than in the fight against crime. So I formally started an investigation into the safety and security plans of the Charlotte transport authorities. But we don’t just look at North Carolina.
Charlotte’s ‘pro-crime’ policy under fire as a career criminal accused of killing forens: expert
Anarchy has infected everywhere by transit networks. Americans see it every day. But the decisive actions of Trump in Washington, DC, show how we can regain our cities with the right policy from the handle of disorder. We will not sit together and wait for the next Iryna. That is why today I also reminded leaders in Boston and Chicago that federal dollars are being connected. If local leaders want federal financing, they will meet the federal safety standards. The status quo is unacceptable. America’s patience is up.
Last month the president declared an emergency in the capital of our nation and the federal law enforcement officers rose to restore public safety. It was a direct response to enveloping crime figures that changed DC into a symbol of urban failure under years of democratic mismanagement. By tapping agencies such as the FBI, DEA and American Marshals, and even using the National Guard, Trump showed that crime cannot be stopped – it is a policy to return.
The results speak for themselves: within a few weeks violent crime, camps and even DC’s Democratic mayor Muriel Bowser admitted that the federal presence helped. Trump’s approach underlines a fundamental truth: crime and urban decline are choices. The left-wing policy that prioritizes criminals over victims of the police, lax prosecution and tolerance for drug markets in the open Air Hebben once-lasting cities changed in war zones.
Homelessness is also not only a social illness; It is exacerbated by the same tolerant postures with which tents can block sidewalks and public parks to become ports for addiction and disorder. The rise in Trump in Washington proves that the action on debauchery and prioritizing the public order can turn the tide.

Even some Democrats are starting to realize this reality. Take Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, whose state was plagued by the crime of Baltimore. For weeks, Moore has spared with the president about offers to send the national guard and call the rhetoric of the president ‘performance’ while waving federal help. Nevertheless, Moore did a reverse just a few days ago and ordered an extra state police to Baltimore to combat local crime. He welcomed support from agencies such as the FBI, but pulled the line to the guard – perhaps to save the face politically. Baltimore is a good example of how the Blue Stads policy failed: high murder figures, unbridled drug use and homelessness that runs away in streets, companies and families. Moore’s, although too late, implicitly admits that Trump’s point: site strengthening. If a left -wing like Moore can admit the truth, why can’t others?

It’s time for accountability. Trump’s rise in DC is not just a victory for the capital; It is a blueprint for the nation. Governors such as Moore take it quietly because the American people have been with forced blue pills long enough. Minorities do not fall for the routine lie that crime cannot be reduced, while republicans who try to solve the problem are not -generously racing racists. There is a reason why Trump almost doubled his support among black voters last fall and the Spanish share has increased by a third since 2020. They wake up and liberal politicians can wake up better quickly. Leaders with a blue state must choose: keep on engaging chaos, or follow Trump’s leaders and make safety a priority. Our cities deserve better than apologies. They deserve action.
While we rebuild the American infrastructure under this administration, we do not forget that safe streets form the basis for prosperity. Crime is a blue pill choice – and it is one that we can reject.
