Faith, family and land. Saying that you keep them dear or place them anonymously online when you are fired – that’s fine. But Charlie Kirk brought it to the next level. He didn’t speak alone. He acted. He had the guts, driving and focusing to go outside day after night, night after night and to fight for what he believed. The threats for his personal safety were known, but he would not stop.
Being in public, in institutions, large and small – especially at university campuses – was essential for Charlie’s power and reach. He talked about conservatives and debated about liberals. When Charlie was involved, conservatism felt fun and exciting again.
On Wednesday the bullet of a murderer robbed us of his voice and robbed his family of a father and husband. The only comfort in this complicated moment is that he died to do what he loved and what God put him on this earth to do. Among the millions of young people he inspired, we hope that there will be new voices on time that will take up his cloak.
Charlie wanted that.
Charlie Kirk died as he lived: daring, unhappy and anchored in faith
Because of his traditional views and his growing next online and on the campus the hard links despised him. Charlie was a direct threat to the stranglehold of progressives for young spirits. Charlie was traditional and pragmatic, but he was also ever optimistic about America.
Charlie’s enthusiasm for the future was contagious. If you started watching his video debates and performances on Fox or listened to his podcast, you were addicted whether you agreed with him or not. You have why he connected.
No one but President Donald Trump himself in the recent memory has had a profound effect on the political thinking of young Americans than he did.
“The only comfort in this complicated moment is that he died to do what he loved and what God put him on this earth to do.”
A few months ago my 15-year-old son watched something on his computer while we had to read on a flight. I was irritated. But then I saw that it was a video of Charlie Kirk and I was relieved. “Mom, Shush! I see him accept this liberal!”
I took a picture of Niko and text it to Charlie. Of course he thought it was great.
And when my daughter Maria heard that Charlie brought his lecture tour to Texas A & M last spring, she was in the clouds. Charlie brought her friends backstage. He recorded a video of them all and sent it to me.
“She’s doing well! Get no problems, so don’t worry!”

The same smiling girls have now been destroyed. It feels like a member of their family was murdered because they grew up with him. His presence was omnipresent. Seeing the prayer watch in honor of him and the church services that are held in his memory to coast would have made Charlie very happy. I can almost hear his voice: “Another powerful sign, Laura! We win!”

Seeing how he was an adult from a lanky teenager to a man and then to a political and cultural icon was a gift himself. But Charlie’s personal side was even better.
“This pain that we all feel should not disappear into a stubborn apathy or turns into violent anger. That would be a gross insult to Charlie’s memory. Give the left -wing haters who celebrate his death do not celebrate that gift.”
Five years ago Charlie suggested me in Jackson, Wyoming, to Ericka Lane Frantzve, the woman who would become his wife. He and I were both spoken speakers at an event earlier in the day, and he was a guest on ‘The Angle’ that evening. We went to a local joint for a late dinner.
I always teased him, I asked what a beautiful girl like she saw in a geeky right winger like him. We laughed a lot that night. They both shine in love. Their values stood on all major problems – point further than their years.

This pain that we all feel should not disappear into a stubborn apathy or turns into violent anger. That would be a gross insult to Charlie’s memory. Do not give the left -wing haters who are killing that gift. Instead, let’s honor this beautiful young man by staying in contact with our fellow Americans, by standing proud of our values and by never withdrawing into the light of threats or intimidation.
