Washington-Elites of both parties-guangs stuck their pearls in the prospect of the Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska. “He is Putin’s Stooge!” Scream Trump Derangement Syndrome Democrats. “He will betray Ukraine to get a deal!” Shout the Forever War Republican Neocons. “He will first leave America and get us involved in Europe’s problem!” Shout the Isolationists in the Republican Party.
None of them understands what Donald Trump makes. They think that he is just like her – a different standard issue of politician who gives more perception than for reality, which value the process above progress. He may have a final goal, but is usually not willing to compromise to achieve this.
Donald Trump approaches problems from the other direction. He has a final goal, even if he is not yet sure how to get there. He is willing to improvise, compromise, to completely change his approach, even if it is unorthodox.
What we know about Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska
I have been in the situation room with four presidents and go back to President Richard Nixon. Trump is different. He focuses on completing a project as quickly as possible, regardless of how he does it. It makes sense to his background. As a real estate developer, he did not earn money until a building was completed. All costs were in advance – buy the country, service to debt and pay for employees, materials and machines.

When Trump started a real estate development, he did not know what difficulties he would encounter along the way – bad weatherPolitical roadblocks, labor disputes, disruptions of the supply chain. When he came across problems, he improvised. His compelling goal was to finish the building as quickly as possible. Time is money. That is why President Trump passes at all these issues at the war. That is why he always has a plan A, Plan B and Plan B.
Most politicians are understandably focused on the next elections. They must seem to have all the answers, for fear that their opponents will tear them apart. When was the last time a politician admitted that his plan did not work? They give speeches, hold negotiations and do not take risks for failure of failure or the alienation of important voters. A politician can make the process look like progress.
Politicians are less concerned with achieving their ultimate goals than in the right approach en route. They adhere to plan A, even if it doesn’t work. Republicans and Democrats extended the Forever Wars in the middle for two decades because they did not want to admit that they were wrong.
President Trump A’s plan was before ending the Ukraine war to use his charm and personality to bring both parties to the negotiating table. That is why he was reluctant for years to criticize Putin; Because he wanted to flatter him to the negotiating table. But plan a failed.
Plan B was to use maximum pressure to bring them to the table. It worked with VolodyMyr Zenskyy. Trump’s threats to draw support from Ukraine convinced him to sign an agreement that binds our economies to develop the rare earth minerals of Ukraine. He loaded a lot of the costs of the war to Europe. They now pay the bill instead of the American taxpayer.

But Plan B did not work with Putin. During their various phone calls, Putin told Trump that he wanted to end the war. But once they have hung up, Putin escalated attacks on Ukrainian civilian goals.
So what does plan C look like? We don’t know yet. That is why President Trump wants to meet Face -To -Face with Putin: to judge whether he really wants to or wants to fight a negotiated peace agreement by … and on … and on … in a Slijp War War.
If Putin is willing to come to the table in good faith, President Trump will probably insist on a rapid arrangement. Neither parties would get everything it wants, but each would get enough to live with. All the goal was Trump’s goal to put an end to the war without alienating Putin or pushing Russia into the open arms of China.
But if President Trump concludes that Putin only plays in time, he will probably go quickly to a plan D – and Putin at the table forces the Russian economy to strangle. He was able to impose secondary sanctions on those countries that ignore sanctions and still buy Russian oil and gas. He would give them a choice. They can continue to buy Russian energy and lose access to the most important American market or stop buying Russian oil and keep selling to the American consumer.

Russia has paid the Ukraine war with income from the oil and gas export. Without that income, Putin would hardly be under pressure to keep fighting. Plan D would take longer, but would eventually force Putin to the negotiating table. Russia would literally no longer have any money to prosecute the war.
The irony here? That they meet in Alaska. Russia owned Alaska, but was forced to sell it to America in 1867 – because it was paid for the Crimean War.
