DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is not qualified for the position she holds in the federal government.
Most people assume that Noem became Secretary of Homeland Security because of her loyalty to Trump. Noem has no national security experience and has never worked in homeland security.
Noem has no experience in intelligence, but she was once governor of South Dakota and was elected to the House.
The Trump administration claims it is teaming up with ICE and the National Guard to raid some of the country’s largest cities to fight crime. A federal judge ruled that the National Guard cannot be deployed in Illinois, so the state is being invaded by military-style ICE agents.
ICE poses a danger to citizens and children in Chicago every day.
Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) held a press conference Thursday where he asked Trump and Noem to pause operations so children could safely trick or treat on Halloween.
Pritzker said:
I’m asking for basic human decency. I think their response will be revealing. They’ve been disrupting everything for over two months. Give the children and families of Illinois a break. To Donald Trump and Kristi Noem: Show us that this is about something other than you just causing chaos in our streets and inflicting cruelty on our people.
And after Halloween, if you really want to go after the worst of the worst. Work with our local law enforcement to help us prosecute violent criminals. Instead, you target innocent children and families, black and brown people, American citizens, and hardworking parents. Essentially, you’re targeting all of us.
