While the president himself signals a turnaround in Minnesota by posting about a “good conversation” he had with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the rest of his administration is not taking any responsibility for the killing of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents.
Members of the administration, such as White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, are doubling down and blaming Democratic officials such as Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz for Pretti’s death.
During the White House press briefing, Leavitt said, “Democratic leaders in Minnesota with the Sanctuary City policy have actively defied federal immigration law and the will of the people. And as a result of that defiance, two Minnesotans have now tragically lost their lives on the streets of Tim Waltz’s state.”

Just in case she didn’t make her point clear enough for anyone who might have been listening, Leavitt also said:
Governor Waltz and Mayor Fry have shamefully blocked local and state police cooperation with ICE, actively hindering efforts to apprehend violent criminals. They have also used their platforms to encourage left-wing agitators to stalk, record, confront, and obstruct federal officers who are merely attempting to lawfully carry out their duties, which has created dangerous situations that threaten these officers as well as the general public and residents of Minnesota.
This is exactly what happened Saturday morning in Minneapolis: Obstructing federal law enforcement and inciting violence against officers is wrong and illegal. This used to be a universally accepted position in the United States, amid the hysteria. We must remember how we got to this moment today and what this Democratic opposition is about.

In true Trump administration style, the White House is saying one thing, while Trump appears to be starting to collapse.
