ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel could have returned to the air through self -censuring. Kimmel could have done what many have on television since Trump returned to the office. He could have voluntarily surrendered his voice and power to the president.
Jimmy Kimmel could have been like that CBSDisney, CNN, Msnbc, Numerous national newspapers and other forms of media that muzzle themselves or changed their reporting to please Trump.
Kimmel didn’t.
Because he had to negotiate with his Disney bosses to get back in the air, it was expected that any expression of repentance was expected for his comments and he spoke to his comments related to the Charlie Kirk -Moord by saying:
I want to make something clear, because it is important to me as a person you understand that it was never my intention to make the murder of a young man light. I don’t think there is something funny about it. … nor was my intention to blame a specific group of the actions of what was clearly a deeply disturbed person. That was really the opposite of the point I was to make, but I understand that for some it felt badly timed or unclear or perhaps both. For those who think I have focused a finger, I get why you are upset – if the situation was reversed, there is a good chance that I would feel the same.
Empathy and the ability to see things from the point of view of others are very lacking in this country, but that is exactly what Kimmel has demonstrated.
Jimmy Kimmel thanked and mentioned many of the conservatives that spoke on behalf of the right to freedom of expression, even though they did not agree with him.
The late-night host spoke about the real issue, which is freedom of expression and Trump who tries to silence his critics illegally.
