Virginians recently learned that our Commonwealth has lost our place as ‘America’s top state of business’. An important factor was selected as leading to the downgrade – the widespread economic impact of Doge’s attacks on the jobs of thousands of Virginians.
I have always supported responsible efforts to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse – as well as corruption. In the American House of Representatives I even led the two -part push to prohibit members of the congress and their spouses to trade individual shares. I believe that our leaders have the responsibility to restore trust in our government, to ensure that taxpayers are used efficiently and keep more money in people’s pockets.
But in the months since the Trump administration launched Doge, I heard from Virginians – in the political spectrum – who have lost their job or worry that their job will be the following. And I hear from local entrepreneurs and contractors who are concerned about their financial future, as well as business leaders who are concerned about the long -term damage to the economy of Virginia; Not only in North Virginia, but in every corner of our Commonwealth. We are the home base of more than 320,000 federal employees not including the employees in the private sector who support federal contracts or the owners of small companies that see Virginians cut back on family budgets.
Look beyond the socialist victory of the Big Apple to find democratic party leaders in 2025
It is not only federal employees who take a hit as a result of cuts on the workforce. A recent study of the University of Virginia projects That more than 32,000 vacancies in Virginia will be lost in the course of 2025, largely because of doge. These include federal jobs, production paths, jobs in food service – the jobs of real virginians in many industries.

The new rankings of “America’s Top States for Business” make one thing clear: the approach of the Trump administration does not work for Virginia. This year the results specifically mentioned the disproportionate effects of the President’s actions on cutbacks on federal jobs, but we have not seen meaningful guidance from our leaders in the entire state for Virginians whose life was aware.
Earlier this year our governor and lieutenant -Governor Virginians who lost their jobs to easily update their CVs and to log in to LinkedIn. That is not leadership.
The Lieutenant -Governor of Virginia, who also asks Virginians to let her serve as their next governor, repeatedly laughed at the job losses of Virginians. She offered these words of advice: “Don’t worry.” I don’t think Virginians in the grip of an unexpected search for a job that would call leadership.

I will never reject threats for Virginia’s economy. This year’s ranking list makes it clear that Virginia’s economy is being threatened and we need a governor who has a plan to build a more resilient economy. Virginians deserve a governor who will put the economy of Virginia first in the light of continuous threats, regardless of whether it is a democrat or a republican in the White House.
If I choose to serve as the next Governor of Virginia, I will take action to ensure that Virginia is the best place in the country to start a business or grow. I will concentrate on utilizing the strengths of our Commonwealth to attract new investments. We will not only defend economic development in every corner of Virginia, including our rural communities, but we will concentrate on the strengths that companies hold here-including our community lectures and universities of world class, our infrastructure and our strong workforce.

Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action has today endorsed Spanberger into this year’s gubernatorial elections in Virginia’s Commonwealth.
Whether we agree or disagree about every problem, I hope that all Virginians can agree on the need to keep Virginia’s economy competitive. The protection of Virginia’s economy should be a dual priority.

I love Virginia, and that’s why my husband and I bring our three daughters here – where we grew up. I want to protect the financial security and opportunities of everyone who calls our Commonwealth house. That is why I focused on reducing the costs for all Virginians, not making it more difficult or making chaos – and that is why I have announced all my affordable Virginia plan plan To reduce health care, housing and energy costs for families in Virginia.
If I had the opportunity to serve Virginians as their next governor, I will draw up a plan on the first day that is not for political gain for us on the day of the challenges, but because that is what the people of Virginia are currently earning from uncertainty.
