The Gaza-bound fleet involving anti-Israeli activists and celebrities, including Greta Thunberg, has received sharp criticism from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, because Israel closely monitors in the midst of fearing that Donald Trump could derail the urge agreement.
Meloni warned that the fleet is intended to destabilize Trump’s peace plan, on X“The truth is simple: those tools can be supplied without risks … insist that they want to force a navy blockade, means that you make themselves conscious or non-instruments of those who want to blow up any possibility of wanting to inflate [a] Stop arrest. Save us the lesson lesson about peace if your goal is escalation. And don’t use the civilian population of Gaza if you are not really interested in their destiny. ”
The Trump government has drawn up its 20-point plan as the path to end the war in Gaza as the release of Israeli hostages secure, but the Flotilla could shift the story back to confrontation.

On X, the Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated: “The fleet of Gaza is not a humanitarian act, but a dangerous provocation intended to generate tensions and to undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts.”
The global Sumud fleet describes itself as a “multinational civilian effort to break through the illegal siege of Gaza,” saying that the Flotilla is the biggest attempt to date that to break the maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip of Israël, which has now lasted 18 years. Israel says that the blockade is needed to prevent Hamas from importing arms.
The Sumud Flotilla is now moving to waters that fall within the exclusive economic zone of Israel and is expected to reach Israeli waters around Yom Kippur with nearly 50 ships and hundreds of anti-Israel activists on board. According to Israëls Channel 12 News, Jerusalem has deployed 600 police officers and naval units and even set up a special court in the KTZI’ot prison to process prisoners, with security officers who warn of possible provocations at sea. “This is a sensitive and complex operation and we are preparing for provocations,” said a senior Israeli police officer.

The fleet has attracted international attention, not only because of the participation of Thunberg, but also because of the European and regional connections. The fleet left Barcelona, supported by groups in Spain, of which Jerusalem claims it is bound to Hamas -employee Saif Abu Kashk, who is said to run a front company that claims Israeli information that checks many of the ships.
At the same time, Turkey says that it has followed the fleet with drones, where Ankara says it can help further “on humanitarian grounds”. Turkey is accused of protecting Hamas members in the country.

For Israel, observers say that the challenge is to prevent activists from reaching Gaza and at the same time avoid an international incident that could play in Hamas’s hands. While Trump works to close a deal, the threatening confrontation on sea heads risks the headlines away from diplomacy and back to conflicts.

On Tuesday, Israel released documents that connect the organizers of the Flotilla to Hamas via the Palestinian conference for Palestinians abroad (PCPA). The group, founded in Turkey in 2017, has been designated by Israel a terrorist organization and accused of serving as Hamas’s overseas arm.
