Rep. Crockett’s election to the Senate became a no-brainer after the Supreme Court upheld Texas’ new Republican gerrymander map. The map gerrymandered Crockett from her seat, making a Senate campaign the next logical step.
Trump and his party have spent years attacking and demonizing Rep. Crockett. It’s not that Crockett is polarizing, it’s that she has been targeted so often by conservative media that Republicans have been radicalized and polarized against her.
If there’s one thing that scares Trump more than anything else, it’s an intelligent and successful black woman challenging him.
Republicans are locked in a Senate primary that looks like a brawl between Sen. John Cornyn and AG Ken Paxton. The Republican primaries will certainly go to a runoff, and with Crockett as the candidate, Democrats can go to their own primaries.
