The focus of the world on the Middle East apparently went back to the Israel-Hamas war after the conflict with Iran that culminated in the historical strikes at the nuclear facilities of Tehran. For more than 20 months, Israel has been working in Gaza after the brutal surprise attacks of Hamas on October 7, 2023.

“In my opinion, the IDF carried it out very effectively,” said Kemp. “They killed huge numbers of Hamas terrorists. They have destroyed a lot of Hamas’ infrastructure, including some of the tunnels, but they still have a long way to go. The fight is not over yet.”
In the assessment of KEMP, the fighting in Gaza will continue until Israel beats Hamas, which becomes a difficult task for an army that actively avoids civilian victims, something that the former British officer said he was ‘personal’ witness.

While on the ground in Gaza, Kemp had the opportunity to talk to citizens and to visit auxiliary distribution locations that are run by the US and Israel -supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). He said that the citizens who spoke to him were grateful for the help and recognize the role that the US played under President Donald Trump. At the same time, they hold Hamas responsible for placing them in ‘the terrible situation in which they are now’.

When demanding the criticism that GHF has confronted with the international community – in particular the United Nations – Kemp said that the organization works in a way that is “uniquely suitable” for the situation in Gaza. He argued that the UN is trying to apply a “standard template solution” that does not work for Gaza, as evidenced by the amount of help stolen by Hamas.
