For someone who identifies himself as a Christian, speaker Mike Johnson has many problems with hypocrisy. To begin with, there is his dedication to Donald: “Never met a ten commandment that I could not break, Trump, and it goes through his policy positions, including reducing taxes for the richest people while the poor needy are harmed.
On Fox News on Sunday, Johnson decided that he is the voice of reason against political violence when he was asked if both parties will do a soul seeker after the shooting in Charlie Kirk.
I have spoken with many members on both sides of the aisle, and there is the recognition that, you know, people have to stop, uh, the framing of simple policy crimes in terms of existential threats for our democracy.
And all these sentences that you hear all the time, you can’t call the other side fascists and enemies of the state. And, and not to understand that there are some disturbed people in our society who will regard it as indications of acting and doing crazy and dangerous things. And that is what we have seen in increasing frequency.
So members of the congress and all officials have the obligation to clearly speak in this and to calm the waters. We can have powerful disputes.
This is the same Mike Johnson responded When asked if Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) must be arrested:
“I am not going to give you a legal analysis of whether Gavin Newsom should be arrested. But he must be transported and feathered, I will say that. He will be in the way of the administration of execution of the federal law. He applauds the bad guys and stands in the way of the good. He is a meticper.
So the same man who now wants calm and not violent rhetoric, three months ago called for an act of violence against a sitting governor because he did not agree with and fight against an administration policy.
Johnson takes no responsibility for his own statements or suggests that he should do better.
For Mike Johnson, the issue of political violence and dangerous rhetoric seems to be a one -way street. Johnson only blames the left, just like Donald Trump.
Johnson’s extreme partition and willingness to treat Democrats as if they were the enemy are a large part of the problem, and a reason why, if the speaker wants to lower the temperature, he should start with himself.
