Minnesota smells of corruption and incompetence. Gov. Tim Walz presided over a fraud catastrophe that prosecutors say could exceed $9 billion, allowed tampons in boys’ bathrooms and botched virtually every aspect of government. Now he’s outdoing himself by claiming that Minnesota is “at war” with the federal government and portraying federal law enforcement as an occupying force. Radical leftists are once again rioting in the streets of Minneapolis, attacking ICE officers and openly flouting the law. Enough is enough. President Trump must invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807 and restore order.
Sanctuary states and cities are paralyzing federal law enforcement. Left-wing leaders refuse to help the federal government enforce immigration laws, including its outrageous refusal to honor federal prisoners for illegal immigrants arrested for other crimes. When state prisons release illegal immigrants, officials fail to notify ICE. Officers must hunt down fugitives on the streets instead of making safe arrests in prisons, exposing themselves and the public to unnecessary danger. Shelter policies protect murderers, pedophiles, drug dealers and armed robbers from deportation.

The latest outrage concerns the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a radical anti-ICE agitator who called himself a “legal observer.” That label does not confer immunity. Well blocked roads and boxed in ICE vehicles which is an illegal obstruction. When an ICE agent ordered Good out of her SUV, she drove away and struck another agent, who suffered internal injuries and shot Good to protect his life and the lives of others. An SUV that weighs thousands of pounds is clearly a deadly weapon. A mother behind the wheel can do the same damage as any big man with a gun.
Leftists maliciously call the ICE agent a murderer. They lie. Only Good’s partner, Becca, could be held criminally liable for murder if a jury finds that Renee’s death was the result of Becca’s criminal misconduct. Becca urged her, “Drive, baby, drive!” A jury could conclude that she conspired to thwart ICE, inciting the attack that forced her partner to use lethal restraint. Becca must face the full weight of the law.

Renee Good’s death unleashed predictable left-wing chaos. Walz, ever the agitator, mused on the use of the Minnesota National Guard against the federal government and repeatedly described the state as “at war” with the U.S. government. Anti-ICE radicals looted federal vehicles, stole sensitive documents and doxxed ICE agents online. They terrorize law enforcement with impunity – and with Walz’s complicity.
Minnesota openly defies the Supremacy Clause, which makes federal law supreme. Immigration enforcement remains an exclusive federal responsibility, but blue states have filed absurd and frivolous Tenth Amendment lawsuits to deport ICE. No judicial precedent supports their claim. If their theory held, segregationist states under Jim Crow could have banned enforcement of federal civil rights. The Red States are fully cooperating with ICE, while Minnesota wallows in chaos.

Minnesota’s lawlessness has gone unchecked. Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and other left-wing officials refuse to act and even encourage left-wing lawbreaking. Police watch as rioters loot an ICE vehicle and attack federal agents without intervention.

Because Walz and Frey federal immigration officials doing their job enforcing federal immigration laws caused a revelation, Trump can and should federalize the Minnesota National Guard and deploy active-duty military members under the Insurrection Act. This is indeed a textbook rebellion. History provides a precedent. In 1992, President George HW Bush invoked the Insurrection Act to quell the riots in Los Angeles following the Rodney King verdict. Minnesota faces an equally serious threat as radical criminals target federal officials who enforce federal laws. If Walz and Frey have their way, their Somali warlord, pirates and fraudster political allies will emulate Black Hawk Down in Minneapolis instead of Mogadishu.

Trump previously deployed the National Guard to restore order in Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon. Despite the immediate drop in crime and resulting life savings, the Supreme Court blinked, misinterpreted the law, and limited the president’s authority under the ordinary statutes. Judge Kavanaugh noted that the Supreme Court has not addressed the Insurrection Act. ICE agents now face imminent danger. Trump cannot reduce enforcement. To do so would be to surrender to domestic terrorists. He must use the Insurrection Act decisively. Lawsuits will follow, but the rule of law requires immediate action.

Invocation alone cannot stop this menace. Federal prosecutors must hold these Minnesota insurgents accountable. Walz, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Hennepin County Soros Prosecutor Mary Moriarty refuse to enforce the law. Federal grand juries should indict them for insurrection, seditious conspiracy, harboring illegal aliens, assault on federal officers, obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and many other serious federal crimes. Walz is facing an investigation into the Somali daycare fraud scandal, which reportedly amounted to at least $9 billion in taxpayer money being funneled to Somali warlords and other terrorists, while state whistleblowers faced threats. This pattern of lawlessness has continued for decades.
Minnesota’s leaders habitually defy the law, undermine federal authority and endanger citizens. As commander in chief and CEO, Trump has both the constitutional and legal authority to act. He should invoke the Insurrection Act, federalize the Minnesota National Guard, deploy active duty military forces, and prosecute these Minnesota insurgents. These actions fulfill the government’s primary mission of maintaining order, enforcing the law, and protecting American lives.
